Guillem Pujol - PRIMITIVO

PRIMITIVO

“What goes up must come down”. This phrase exemplifies the crisis of the neo-liberal system we currently live in. Most of society seems to be satisfied with simply holding out, although without rocking the boat. In contrast, the punk movement is less conformist and fights back.

This character means going against the grain, rejecting consumerism, recycling and reusing food or any type of product—or making things oneself without worrying about what others think. An instinctive, primitive behaviour that is quite far off from established social values. Whenever rules exist they can be broken.

PRIMITIVO is the name of a musical project in the punk style. It is a criticism of the current socio-cultural system. Formally it involves the reuse of materials from the street and from the rubbish, giving them a new use. With this do-it-yourself attitude, spray paint and a stencil, these materials become expressive weapons that look to counter established social and stylistic values.
