Based on an existing arts centre, Can Manyé, in the town of Alella, the proposal seeks to unite the old textiles warehouse and extend and bring in the neighbouring farmhouse as part of the centre to create a small forum for artists in the area. Therefore, the proposal gives the centre another name, extends the programme and changes its way of acting and even its coordination.
It is a centre for the production and dissemination of art, with a large-scale workshop, interior and exterior spaces, work areas, a library, a secretariat to manage all the activities, an art collection and a small four-room residence for anyone willing to stay in it up to a maximum of two years. Paying a minimum fee provides free access to use the different spaces in The Nest, and allows you to take home the different books in the archive area and work in the workshop, open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The main intention is to create a new and impacting image, projecting the exteriors of the building towards the future road in the area without leaving the limits of the two buildings.
