Jenny Martínez - Must

Must

The project involves the renovation of premises lying on the boundary between Barcelona’s La Ribera and Ciutat Vella districts. The premises currently houses an art gallery and covers a surface area of 55 m2 + 20 m2 of attic space. The aim is to design a workshop-showroom in which to display a jewellery label in a district where the location, environment and dimensions of the premises favour this.

Must exhibits and sells signature jewellery which has been hand-crafted to create an exclusive end product. The aim of the project is to create an open space suitable for all uses without the need for interior dividing walls that block the customer’s line of vision. This is defined through the design of two pieces which define the uses of the space: the workshop-counter which defines the work, exhibition and customer care area, and the cupboard that separates the private area from the exhibition space. The aim of the materials and colours used, together with the lighting, is to emphasise the separation of the spaces. The lighting will also be used to create a slightly dark space, the aim of which (with the exhibition stands-light) will be to convey the feeling that the exhibited pieces are floating.
