Maceta is a degrowth publisher. Degrowth is a current of thought that defends the use of renewable energies together with a degrowth in our consumption. The Maceta publisher produces publications on degrowth and subjects such as voluntary simplicity, self-production and free culture, but it also researches, interviews and organises workshops.
Maceta publishes using free or public domain licences and offers every publication in print on demand through risography, home printing, e-books and audiobooks.
In 2010 one out of every three printed books was destroyed, which shows that the strategies, processes and organisational charts of conventional publishing are obsolete. Consequently, Maceta is a minimal, self-sufficient publisher with no unnecessary intermediary agents in the value chain, which optimises energy and human resources through new production systems and collaborative work networks.
In addition, during the Maceta project, we have only worked with open source tools and resources.
