The project takes place in the Hotel Can Rafel, situated on the border between two towns, Cervelló and Corbera de Llobregat.
Contrast of styles, rural-classical with a new minimalist intervention. The aim is to refurbish and convert one of the large convention rooms of the present hotel into items.
Items is a space that owes its name to its unusual dimensions and the presence of elements from nature. It proposes an extension and a new way of understanding intimate-private space and is designed to achieve both a physical and a mental wellbeing that lasts after having stayed at the hotel.
There are three types of item:
- Relaxation item
- Meditation item
- Motivation item
The following were taken into account for the design:
- cardinal points
- elements from nature
- materials
- tones
All of them follow the same design criterion: they differentiate access area, toilet area, water and activities area, transit area and rest area, outside as well, although they use different materials and tones to meet the different needs and sensations.
Items comprises a reception space that serves to connect both areas of the hotel.
