The Factory

Project to convert the old Can Tries factory, on Carrer Can Tries, 1-7, in L’Hospitalet del Llobregat, into housing for young people.

The factory is an ambitious project that aims to change the worrying statistics of a high percentage of young people unable to gain their independence by offering them these homes at an affordable price.

The aim of the project is to offer a distortion of the typical individualistic way of life rooted in our country by opting for the recovery of a neighbourly coexistence based on interaction and the fact of sharing. A living module is formalised that is repeated, that adapts to the original structure of the factory and that creates communal spaces that foster relationship between neighbours.

The name of the project comes from the former use of the site where the project will be carried out: the old Can Tries textiles factory in l’Hospitalet del Llobregat.

The idea of a factory leads us to an idea of continuous movement, as this will enable the neighbourly relations to be fostered. This is why the project is called The Factory and maintains the original exterior appearance from the turn of the century.
