Convergences between Graphic Design and Cinema

This project seeks to create a connecting bridge between the disciplines of graphic design and cinema. Starting off from a holistic position regarding visual communication, new ways of making cinema have been studied so as to create a novel narrative language with an important visual component, widening the terrain of design.

The audiovisual piece is a short film entitled La Rata (The Rat). The short develops an anonymous story on emotional dependencies through the semantics and symbolism of a number of factors, including colour, text, objects and the film’s art direction.

In conclusion, this project seeks to explore a line of communication based on graphic design. It does so, however, not only by aggregating elements from this latter discipline, but also from its more humanistic way of conceiving communication and its processes.
