Constructotherapy

Constructotherapy is a new occupational therapy for patients with Parkinson’s disease, an activity that is carried out with architectural construction pieces.

Thanks to the adapted design and the therapy carried out, the upper limbs are exercised, so slowing down the evolution of the typical symptoms of the disease, trembling and muscular rigidity. The exercises are based on detailed movements, precision, coordination and muscular strength.

Since the symptoms evolve progressively, there are two degrees of complexity. Degree 1 for stages 1 and 2, with minor symptoms, and Degree 2 for stages 3 and 4, with severe symptoms.

Constructotherapy is a creative, educational and group activity. It fosters interpersonal and leisure relations, imagination and freedom in taking decisions. Thanks to the emotional work and to the satisfaction of feeling that the hard work of the therapy has a final and personal result, it better achieves the motivation, autonomy and quality of life of the patient.

All of the components are stored in packaging that contains an explanatory book, different geometric pieces, four bases and connectors to join each piece together.
