Closeness homes is a project aimed at changing the use of a school in Sant Just Desvern to turn it into a complex of assisted flats for people over 60 who are the risk of social exclusion and so that they have complete independence. It will also offer a series of services available to everyone.
The project revolves around a number of fundamental cores: Firstly, it has been created with a social vocation to provide an answer to the needs of a group that is all too often at risk, using interior design as a tool.
Never lose sight of the individual, planning spaces tailor-made to them and according to their needs.
Utmost respect for the existing building and use of the structure and morphology of the building to the benefit of the project. Concordance of the formal expression with the criteria of constructive economy, energy savings, ease of control and maintenance, etc.
The U-shaped building frames a central courtyard, in the form of an incomplete cloister, which becomes the centre of the building. The degree of privacy of the homes is structured on the basis of this nerve centre. From the public meeting space, the cloister, we go into a transitional space to reach the private and intimate space. The aim of the quality and variety of these spaces and their nuances is to extend the independence and aid the integration of the residents with their closest environment.
