Basatu is an identity and promotion project for the rural Basque carnival.
The rural Basque carnival is over 2,000 years old and steeped in the customs and icons from rural Basque mythology. The aim of this project is to highlight the annual and contemporary nature of the event, without forgetting the history and tradition of the carnival.
To do this, I developed a means of getting the event to resonate with the public by using graphics and media that match their urban lifestyle and cultural practices. My other aim is to achieve compatibility between the heritage, cultural and historical value of local fiestas and the recognition that these deserve on a more general stage.
