Sara Coscarelli, Anna Majó, Oriol Pibernat, Octavi Rofes and Amadeu Ventayol, professors of the Bachelor of Design and Masters of EINA, have participated in the 4th Symposium of the Design History Foundation on Turismo y diseño: Materialidades y relato del viaje de placer (Tourism and Design: Materialities and narrative of the pleasure trip), which took place on 24 and 25 November at the Museu del Disseny.
The aim of the symposium was to examine the relationship between design and tourism through its multiple materialities and narratives from a historical, contemporary and interdisciplinary perspective.
Research related to the following areas, organised according to the phases of the tourist journey, has been presented at this event:
- The construction of the narrative: campaigns, magazines, brochures, literature and cinema, etc.
- How to find your way around in unfamiliar places: maps, guides, apps, etc.
- Staying and eating to enjoy: hotels, restaurants, bars, beach bars, etc.
- Fictional spaces: theme parks, heritage theming, etc.
- Recording and remembering the trip: photo albums, postcards, souvenirs, etc.
- Beyond sun and beach. Hybrid tourism: health tourism, congresses, business, etc.
- Rethinking tourism: travelling in times of pandemic and sustainability crisis.
- Degrowth
