Manuel Marsol (Manuel Martínez Soler, Madrid, 1984) may be considered one of the most relevant illustrators of the moment, in the field of children and youth publications. Being selected by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, as winner of the International Award of The Ilustrado Edelvives Album (with whom he has published his first book "Ahab and the White Whale"), he has also been awarded the 5th edition of the Iberoamerican Catalogue of Illustration Award.
Educated in Advertising and Audiovisual Communications, Marsol is introduced to illustration after inmersion in the Course in Children’s and Youth Illustration at EINA, in Barcelona. Back in Madrid, he works alike in artistic creativity aswell as illustration and animation. Multidisciplinar creator, he animates his own illustrations for the web Tiger Stores, at an international level, he is creator of the wellknown humor blog Bloger de Niro and through his merchandising, he is aswell exhibitor of a series of drawings inspired in the works of Juan Rulfo in the gallery Mad is Mad in Madrid. Among other works, Marsol is currently developing together with Ubicuostudio a videogame based on the illustrations selected in Bologna.
He has also recently been invited to the Sasso Residency (Switzerland) where he imparted and participated in workshops together with a selction of 8 top world illustrators, among which were: It's Raining Elephants, Luke Best or Johanna Benz. In the editiorial world, he is preparing several projects with Ekaré, A Buen Paso and Orfeu Negro.
