The book Vinçon 1929-2015, written by Oriol Pibernat, professor of the Bachelor of Design and the University Master's Degree in Research in Art and Design at EINA, and María José Balcells, will be presented on 21 April at 7 p.m. at the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona.
This publication is the third volume of the collection Imprescindibles, a co-publication of the Museu del Disseny and the publishing house Tenov, which covers the history of Vinçon, the emblematic shop that changed the way of seeing and consuming design in Spain, opened new horizons in the world of art and design through La Sala Vinçon and became a point of reference.
Oriol Pibernat and María José Balcells, authors of the book, will take part in this event, which is open to all audiences, accompanied by Fernando Amat, owner of Vinçon, and Juli Capella, architect. They will talk about the details of Vinçon's history and how the story was written.
The book opens with an essay by historian and designer Oriol Pibernat that analyses Vinçon's role in the consumption of design in Barcelona and the creation of the myth. Next, María José Balcells reconstructs its history based on an initial exploration of the shop's archive, which is kept at the Documentation Centre of the Museu del Disseny. Finally, a visual section that recounts the evolution of the shop, its shop windows, its products, its communication and its exhibitions will undoubtedly be a flashback for all those who knew it, but also a discovery for the generations that never got to walk through Vinçon.
