Martina Tarabal, a student on the Master's in Graphic Design, opened her individual exhibition on Thursday 30 May as part of the Projections programme, curated by Àlex Mitrani.

Martina Tarabal explores the subject of portraiture with perseverance and intelligence as a strategy for asking about the ego and about the other. Her faces work at times as an impenetrable abyss and at others as a superficial mask. By working in series, the artist can make the most of the possibilities offered by engraving in its different states to make a portrait evolve like a metamorphosis. Martina Tarabal combines delicacy and bluntness in poetic games that do not exclude a certain irony. For the family to be meat is simply a metaphor when, as is the case, it owns a butcher's A large heart made of liquorice can refer to the sweetness of sentiments or to the fibres of a simple muscle.
