The mapping "Tales of Light" illuminates the façade of the Modernist site of Sant Pau in Barcelona

Students of the subject Digital Creation, of the fourth year of the Bachelor Degree in Design at EINA, taught by Santi Vilanova have produced the mapping that will be projected in the façade of the Recinte Modernista of Sant Pau between December 20th and January 6th, daily from 6 to 11pm.

The project is focused on the image rather than in a "classical" light decoration, proposing through the use of video projectors the creation of a visual "skin" for the central area of the façade. The video mapping technique allows the highlighting of architectural elements, while the use of figurative images help communicate the new uses of the old Hospital of Sant Pau, revaluing it as a “new” center of Modernism and a new exhibition space.

In the project development, through research into the history of the hospital, the work of the architect Domènech i Montaner and decorative elements present in different pavilions inspired by the role of the hospital during the 19th and 20th centuries, students have proposed a series of animated illustrations in perfect fit with the architecture of the building itself, highlighting key concepts in four categories: History, Modernism Health (understood in all its amplitude) and Culture.
