Denis Lara, student on the Bachelor’s Degree in Design, is the creator of the ‘Lambda’ project, which has been awarded the Jump The Gap prize, in the Student category.

At the awards ceremony that was held on 17 October, the international design competition, organised by Roca and BCD, awarded the prize to ‘Lambda’, a project produced as part of the Industrial Product for Household Items seminar, directed by Francesc Crous, on the Projects 4 subject.

'Lambda' is a steriliser that decontaminates users’ hands based on the emission of a short wave frequency light, similar to ultraviolet, that is currently used in other areas to purify water and air. This solution allows total hygiene to be achieved in both the domestic and the public environment. As well as its originality, Valentin Vodev highlighted its social purpose: “It is an intelligent proposal that could contribute to solving the problem of hygiene in public places, and it could be implemented and scaled for global use.”
