Last November 15th within the programmed sessions at Blanc Festival, Dani Garcia (Serra i Abella), Mar De la Llave (Elisava) and Gerard Pellisa, EINA student, presented their Final Degree Projects before a booked Auditorium; all three chosen from projects submitted by various design schools.
The Final Project of Gerard Pellisa is entitled "From the letter to the pictogram". This is an abstract summary:
"The project represents an experiment on the morphology of the letter, speculating on the feasibility of drawing pictograms based on fonts. In the process, the investigation covers the basic principles of semiotics, projects related to the theme and the exploration of the possibilities of building character. The line stroke, the modulation, the structure and all other intrinsic elements of drawing characters work to build a system.
The end result is an explanatory set of examples from each crafted typography and conclusions on the experimental results that expose both the benefits and limitations of the process."
