"The “El ballet imperial de la reina Rosamunda” ballet company has created the show entitled Escenes d’Infants, based on piano music by Frederic Mompou.
When a boy, this Catalan composer often expressed his fear of growing up. He was afraid of losing the freedom that characterises a person's early years. When he became an adult and composer, Frederic Mompou wrote Escenes d’Infants as a way of recovering this lost paradise and reliving it from a position of maturity. This premise led us to recreate in our show the dialogue between the adult world and memoires of childhood.
Having EINA's silk-screen printing students collaborating on the creation of the stage design was a highly enriching experience for us. We would like to give them our most heart-felt thanks."
Marc Hervàs, Show Director.
The stage design proposes replacing the classic black box with a textured white one with symbols usually found in the adult world, but which are strange in the world of the child.
The work was previewed recently without any stage design and is currently being performed at EINA Espai Barra de Ferro, before transferring to the stage.
With its commitment to cultivate proximity with the creative industries, EINA, Centre Universitari de Disseny i Art de Barcelona, fosters collaboration agreements designed to bring specific projects to fruition. On this occasion, the commission is thanks to the stage design and EINA teacher Anna Alcubierre and was created on the fourth-year Silk Screen Printing subject taught by artist and lecturer Enric Mas, with a group of volunteer students, who are: Esther Aguilà, Alberto Garcia, Talia Lavaill, Coral Martínez and Marina Serrano.
