A portrait (from the Latin retractus) is a painting or effigy, generally of a person. A portrait is also considered to be the description of a figure or character, that is, the physical or moral qualities of a person.

"This isn’t just your average portrait. This is what could be described as the main essence of this project. It is not a conventional project in that is not the result of any specific reflection or even a desire to present it in an exhibition space. This project is born out of a necessity: an empty space, a space that needs a project to fill its walls. So there is no profound discourse to support these paintings and photographs, nor is there any reflection or cohesion initially within the discourse of each artist. But there is amusement, work and a craving. With these three qualities the necessity to fill the space became an opportunity, the lack of discourse a creative liberty. Driven by the typical cravings of young artists, with a desire to show their work, to publish and display their artistic talents. We just needed one small point of cohesion that each one could feel comfortable with and these qualities and ambitions ended up in the final result: THE PORTRAIT BUT THIS ISN’T YOUR AVERAGE PORTRAIT.
