Flag Lab is a project proposed as a laboratory for the study and reflection on the flag of the 21st century. The idea for this initiative arose when the promoters of the project set out to recover a flagpole located on the façade of a listed building in Plaça del Sol in the Gracia District, which used to be a school, and to reactivate its civilian use.
During the 2021/2022 academic year, Flag Lab will work around the United Nations 2030 Agenda with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals approved by 193 countries that constitute the global roadmap towards a new world, supported by administrations, social and economic entities. "It is a reason to work on the existence of a flag that represents this global challenge and is unanimously subscribed to", the organisation points out.
In 2021 Flag Lab signed an agreement with EINA to introduce this project in the study programme directed by Pilar Górriz for the 2021/2022 academic year with the commitment to hoist 6 flag designs that will remain raised according to the calendar, on the flagpole of the Plaça del Sol.
In the coming weeks, EINA students will raise their flags at Plaça del Sol within the cycle of the Agenda 2030. This is the calendar:
- 20/02 at noon: Dahlia Gonzalez

- 20/03 at noon: Flavià Boleda

- 24/04 at 12 noon: Rita Pons and Cesc Llinares

- 27/05 at 8 pm: Bhavna Ruberte

- 08/07 at 8 pm: Guillem Garcia

Flag Lab is a project by Gianni Ruggiero and Natalia Foguet. Pilar Górriz, Gemma Villegas, Dani Arauna and the Suñol Foundation collaborate in the Agenda 2030 cycle.
