Eina presents ‘Diagonal’ at Llum BCN 2025

The students of the University Master's Degree in Design of Spaces (MUDE) present ‘Diagonal’ at Llum BCN 2025, one of the leading European festivals in the field of the light arts, which will take place from 7 to 9 February.

Barcelona's Avinguda Diagonal, a historic symbol of urban connection, becomes the stage for a unique lighting intervention. Located in a stretch surrounded by trees, this installation redefines the space as a place for experimentation and interaction.

The central element is bicycle tyres which, combined with coloured lights and filters, transform the nocturnal landscape with dynamic and colourful projections.

In the past, the Diagonal represented the effervescence of motorised traffic and the industrialisation of the city. Today, the frenetic pace has shifted to other forms of movement, such as the bicycle, which inspires this work. Like the sky, once covered in smoke and now marked by orbital traffic, this urban space is being transformed by new forms of activity.

With ‘Diagonal’, Eina proposes a paradox: how can an urban space used as a road connection become a place to play and reflect? This art installation invites us to question the balance between progress and sustainability, reimagining the relationship between city and nature.

The project, developed with the tutotisation of Anna Alcubierre, Giacomo Damato and Javier Nieto, involved MUDE students: Maria Dayana Montes Peña, Alan Gibrant Pulido Montalvo, Zihao Qian, Carlota Rodés Bachs, María Camila Rueda Zamudio, Andrea Sofía Salinas Alfaro, Meliza Vicuña Tapia, Xinyi Wang, Ding Zhang.

Diagonal' is sponsored by Movent BICIS.
