EINA participates in the Nicosia Open Up Festival, a multidimensional art event with an intense programme including performances, video installations, workshops, etc., which will take place from 19 to 22 October in Cyprus.
The festival presents works by artists who have collaborated in workshops, seminars and other activities organised and implemented by all the partner institutions that are part of the European Union Open Up project during the four years of the programme (2019-2023).
EINA's presence will take the form of various activities. Daniela Callejas and Bárbara Báyarri, teachers of the CursO, will present Fabrics to weave care, initiated at the Open Up Festival in Barcelona held at the Bosc facilities, a piece that is an open space for creating nomadic networks through weaving, blurring, unfolding and recomposing other possible geographies.
Fiona Capdevila, professor of the CursO, will present the video Throw, edited by EINA, which shows the collective performance carried out in Poblenou on 4 May with all the participants in the workshop Transitional Dress, held within the framework of the Open Up Festival in Barcelona. Fiona will also give the workshop Calicoe meadows as interfaces, an exploration on life and its representations, an exploration between life and its representation over six sessions.
Laura Vilar, lecturer on the University Master's Degree in Research in Art and Design (MURAD) at EINA-UAB, will give a three-day Nomadic parcourse, a workshop based on the idea of drift where the body in movement travels through the city; and Meritxell Soto will propose Espai Segur, a participatory performance on club culture.
Participating in the Open Up project are UAB, together with Pierides Foundation (Nicosia); Publics (Helsinki); Université de Picardie Jules Verne (Amiens); University of Thessaly (Volos); Valand Academy (Gothenburg) and New Hand Lab (Covilhã).
