Eina and the firm Mobles 114 rethink the contemporary shelving system

Eina and the firm Mobles 114 bring together emerging talent and experience to rethink an everyday object: the shelving system. The collaboration is part of the Bachelor’s Degree in Design, within the course Projects 6 (Product Design specialisation), led by Xavier Mora, where students take on the challenge of developing a new system or reinterpreting TRIA, an icon of contemporary design.

Under the motto “The shape of what we keep”, the project goes beyond function to explore how the objects we retain shape our ways of inhabiting space. The challenge is to develop proposals aligned with the brand’s DNA—based on formal sobriety, quality, and cultural vocation—while also opening up new perspectives on ways of living and the organisation of domestic space.

The initiative benefits from the collaboration of Gabriel Moragas, a key figure linked to the company for more than 30 years, who supports students by providing strategic insight and product expertise.

One of the central components of the project is the immersion in the offices of Mobles 114, where students can test their ideas and gain first-hand insight into real industry processes. This experience transforms the classroom into a laboratory connected to industry, where design is tested in a professional context.

Another key element of the project is the immersion in the company’s real context, materialised in the visit that students made on Monday 27 April to the Mobles 114 offices. During the visit, students were able to review their initial ideas and gain close insight into the company’s processes and values. This experience turns the classroom into a laboratory connected to industry, where design is tested in a real professional environment.

The students who participated were: Abril Chun, Tarek Bretones, Adam French, Carolina Gómez, Sonia María Juste, Aleix Peguera, Xavier Prieto, Júlia Salvado, Montserrat Viedma, and Zhoujun Xu.
