Curs El Mal Alumne

The Bad Student Course

The Bad Student is a program on the development of AI in recent years, presented as a current and urgent case study. It is taught by the artistic collective Estampa at the Eina Sentmenat facilities and La Virreina Centre de la Imatge, from March 28 to June 6.

Organized by la_BAC (Barcelona Arts College), the course raises questions such as: What lies behind the functioning of these technologies? In what sense are they an expression of what we can call the ideology of big data? Where does the fascination and need to automate processes, as AI does, come from? How do they relate to the urge to archive? How can we investigate their functioning and the discourse that sustains them? And how can we explain it from the margins?
