Marc Menció has won a gold at the Indigo Awards, in the Digital Tools and Utilities Category, with his Bachelor of Design Final Project ‘Laboratori de Captcha’ (Captcha Lab). These international awards promote creativity, highlighting projects that are unique in graphic, digital, mobile, branding and design for social change.
‘Laboratori de Captcha’ is an exploration of how captcha can evolve using our human skills as the foundation to create better systems that are both safe and improve the current user experience. Focusing on what allows us to interpret and interact with our environment in a unique way: our cognition, and physiology. The objective is to find new solutions that can help humans in this long fight against bots that looms ahead.
CAPTCHA is a challenge-response test that separates us, humans, from bots. 200+ millions of them are done daily to keep the internet safe. The next generation of bots will be AI-powered and will make current captchas obsolete. To find new solutions we need to ask ourselves what bots cannot process. Now and in the future.
