Anna Milla wins the ‘A jump for the city’ competition with the “Metropolis” project

The “Metropolis” project by Anna Milla, a 2nd-year student on the Bachelor’s Degree in Design, has won the fourth edition of the ‘A jump for the city’ competition, which consists of designing a jump for one of the most prestigious show jumping competitions in the world: the Jumping Nations Cup (CSIO) Barcelona 2018, which will be held from 4 to 8 October at the Reial Club de Polo de Barcelona.

The project pays tribute to the city of Barcelona, represented through its metro network, comprised of 12 lines and over 150 stations, and which carries over 400 million people a year. “A communications system of this scope speaks of its users and their stories,” Anna Milla states.

To create the design, each line was individually handled, staggering them to create a single structure over two levels, which also integrates all the parts of the jump. The names of some of the leading stations were also added to create an overall idea of Barcelona.

The jump will be made at the Reial Club de Polo de Barcelona (RCPB) carpentry workshop and will be presented officially in early September.

The Barcelona Equestrian Challenge (BECH) has chosen 2nd-year students on the EINA Bachelor’s Degree in Design, on the courses in Design of Spaces, coordinated by Judit Colomer and Octavi Rofes, and Mock-ups and Prototypes, led by Ariadna Fàbregas and Amadeu Ventayol, for the 4th edition of the competition, which is aimed at strengthening the bond between the centennial sporting competition and Barcelona, as well as the international promotion of the city.
