Isabel del Río

Researcher in History and theory of design.
Graduate in Fine Arts and Official Master's Degree in Advanced Studies in Art History from the University of Barcelona.
She is currently studying the PhD programme in Advanced Studies in Artistic Productions (EAPA), in the line of Research in Image and Design, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Universitat de Barcelona.

Teaching 

She has taught history, theory and critique of design on design degrees at various universities such as UNIBA (University of Barcelona), Charlemagne University of Andorra and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). She also collaborates in the Master's Degree in Graphic Design at BAU and in the Postgraduate Degree in Product Concept at Elisava.

Professional experience / Research 

Since 2011 she has been working as a researcher at the Design History Foundation of Barcelona (FHD) and, from time to time, she has been documenting objects for the Product Design Collection of the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona. She has also collaborated in various exhibitions and projects and has given lectures related to the world of design.

She participates in several academic conferences such as the Symposiums of Design Historians in Spain, the Colloquia of Researchers in Textile and Fashion and the ICSID (International Committee of Design History and Design Studies) Conferences.

Lectures

(2021) 'L'interior domèstic, mirall de gustos i identitats canviants (1959-1986)' together with Dr. Isabel Campi within the Cycle of International Study Days on Architecture, Interiors and Social Identity, held by the Barcelona History Museum at the Bon Pastor Library in Barcelona on 7 October 2021.

(2019) 'Design at the Bauhaus. Pedagogical revolution, functionalist conception and social commitment' as part of the course Bauhaus (1919-1933): el llegat d'una escola centenària given by the Universitat de Barcelona from 1 to 5 July 2019.

(2018) 'A cultural history of the chair' as part of the V Architecture and Design Week at Club Pollença (Mallorca).

(2018) 'History of the chair' at the Balearic Island Architects’ Association (COAIB) in Mallorca to present the book Chairs by the cultural journalist Anatxu Zabalbeascoa, published by Andreu World and Gustavo Gili.
