Magnet App

Carles, Marta and Laia, Silver Laus Award

Carles Giménez, Marta Pardina and Laia Xixons have won a Silver Laus, awarded by the Association of Graphic Designers and Art Directors of the FAD (ADG-FAD), in the category Students, with the project Magnet App, developed within the framework of the subject Interactive Interface Design of the Degree in Design.

For all of you, what has it meant to receive this award?

The fact that this year the ceremony was online means that we have not yet finished assimilating it. However, we are very happy; for us it is the recognition of a job well done. To receive an award like this at the end of our career at the university, and in the circumstances in which we find ourselves, is a push to continue.

Magnet (Magazine + Network) is a Netflix of digital publications, a way of transporting the graphic experience of a paper magazine in the digital environment without falling into analogical conventions and without losing the identity. What motivated you to choose this theme?

From the beginning, we wanted to explore editorial design in the digital world. This led us to question how they could coexist and how an app could work to maintain the best of both worlds: the accessibility of the digital environment and the versatility of the printed medium.

All three of you are recent graduates. What has EINA given you?

For us, EINA has been a beginning; a space full of opportunities where we can learn to think differently, to understand what design is and how it makes us responsible. The synergies and bonds between people that take place, inside and outside the subjects, the value given to the theoretical, ethical and political background of the projects and the desire to make grow the confidence in the own criteria of the students are, for us, the strong points of EINA.
