Martí Guixé

Trained in Barcelona and Milan as an interior and industrial designer.

Teaching

Since 2023 he has been directing the Food Design studies at the Scuola Politecnica di Milano, SPD.

Professional experience

In 1994, living in Berlin, he formulated a new way of understanding the culture of products and from 1997 he began to exhibit his work, which is characterised by the search for new product systems that alter lifestyles, the introduction of design in the field of food and presentation through performance.

His unconventional approach brings brilliant and simple ideas, which have earned him awards such as the FAD International Architecture Prize 2014, the National Culture Prize 2007 and the Ciutat de Barcelona Design Award 1999, among many others.

Since 2021 he has been curator of the Unevaluated Essays collection at Corraini Edizioni. Previously, from 2019 to 2023, he curated exhibitions of art, craft and design at La Galleria Nazionale, Rome.

Museums where he has exhibited include MoMA in New York, MACBA in Barcelona, Triennale in Milan, MART in Rovereto, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Mudac in Lausanne, Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome, National Museum of Victoria in Melbourne, Performa09 in New York, the Design Museum in London, the Fondation pour la Architecture in Brussels, the Graphic Design Museum in Breda, the Z33 in Hasselt, the MARTa in Herford, the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich, the Centre d'Art Contemporain in Geneva and the Magasin 3 in Stockholm.

His work is in the collections of the Museu del Disseny in Barcelona, the MoMA in New York, the MAK in Vienna, the Pinakothek del Moderne in Munich, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, the Centraal Museum in Utrecht and the FRAC Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
