As well as the in-house services provided to EINA departments, the Historical Archive is open to scholars and researchers interested in the history of the institution or of art and design teaching in Catalonia and Spain.

The document fond, as a historical and cultural heritage and tool helping the administrative management, can freely be accessed and consulted by all the citizens with the conditions and restrictions set by the current legislation in terms of data access and protection.
Part of the freely accessible document fond can be consulted in EINA’s Historical Archive webpage. In this site, archival descriptions of the documental series or records, and in certain cases, digital reproductions the files conforming it can be found. It also contains the authority files of the producing entity and some of the people involved.
The online consultation is complemented with the in person consultation.
The information and reference service enables the users of the fond to seek advice about their research and the document fonds of the EINA archive that can provide them with a greater amount of useful information.
General information about the description tools, the access conditions, the other services available and, when necessary, about other archive centres and fonds that might be worth consulting according to research is provided.
In order to spread the Historical Archive’s fonds, the centre loans the documents for exhibitions held by other entities.
In recent years, the archive fonds have been part of exhibitions such as:

- Del segon origen: arts in Catalonia 1950-1977 (MNAC, 2015)
EINA Archive offers a service of the reproduction of the documents it guards.
The reproduction procedure is adapted to the user’s needs, the document’s conservation state as well as the limitations set by the current legislation in terms of personal data and intellectual property protection.
