Roger Subirà

Roger Subirà

Architect by the Vallès School of Architecture (2004). He worked in the offices of Ábalos Herreros in Madrid and Josep Llinás in Barcelona. He was deputy chief of staff at the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Director of the 2016 Architecture Congress of the College of Architects of Catalonia and author of several studies and works related to the dissemination of architecture (Architecture as a cultural sector in Barcelona for Barcelona City Council, Programme and conceptualisation of the Future Museum of Architecture and Urban Planning of Catalonia and Plan for the protection of 20th century architectural heritage in Catalonia for the Department of Culture of the Generalitat). He has curated exhibitions at the Museu Marítim de Barcelona, the Palau Robert and the College of Architects of Barcelona, Tarragona and Figueres. Coordinator of the programme of events, author of the book and curator of the exhibition commemorating the 40th anniversary (40anys40raons) of the Institut Català del Sòl (INCASOL). Coordinator of the UIA-UNESCO Barcelona 2026 candidacy (World Capital of Architecture). He currently combines the design and construction of interior and exterior spaces in the Backyard Collective (with Narcís Font) with curating and designing exhibitions, theoretical work and teaching. 

Teaching and Research

Author of several books on urban and architectural themes. Professor of Aesthetics and Projects at the La Salle School of Architecture at the Universitat Ramón Llull. Drafter of the syllabus for the new Landscape Degree at La Salle URL. Lecturer at the RCR BUNKA Foundation Summer Workshop, Olot. Author of several studies and research on the architecture of the Modern Movement (Iberian DOCOMOMO Foundation and INNOVA Concrete Programme, Horizon 2020, of the European Commission). Student of the postgraduate course on "Leadership in the Public Sector" at IESE (Barcelona). Guest lecturer at the Universidade da Cidade in Sao Paolo, Brazil.  Author of the files for the declaration of the Metropol Theatre (Tarragona), the Masia Freixa (Terrassa) and the Torre del Aigua (Sabadell) as Cultural Heritage of National Interest (BCIN).
