Researcher, visual artist, and educator.

Holds a degree in Art History from the University of Barcelona, a Photography diploma from the Polytechnic Foundation of Catalonia, and a Master's in Artistic Production and Research from the University of Barcelona.

Teaching / Research

Ona Bros approaches images with political awareness, seeing them as catalysts for complex semiotic-technical-material relationships. Her practice is situated and embodied, investigating from lived experience and critical thinking, within a queer perspective and a transfeminist sensitivity. Her research projects are long-term. Since 2020, she has been exploring the imaginaries of biosciences and genetic science through the BetaBlastoCuir project. Her work takes shape through photography, video, writing, and live arts.

A significant part of her work is linked to pedagogical practices and arts mediation, activating multiple contexts for knowledge transmission and collective articulations.

Professional experience

Recently, she has received the Barcelona Producció 25 Grant, the Hangar-Fundació Banc Sabadell Grant, and the Temporals 24 curatorial grant. Her work has been presented at venues such as La Panera, Macba, Reina Sofía, La Casa Encendida, and ACVic, among others. She has given lectures and workshops in contexts such as the Dutch Art Institute, DONE Visual Reflection and Creation Program, the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics in Lima, Art Photo BCN, Hangar, and Hamaca. She has been a long-term resident at Hangar.org.

She is a founding member of the cooperative fuga.coop, which promotes research and production projects in the field of visual arts.
