Teaching
Lecturer on the Bachelor of Design at EINA and ELISAVA. He has been guest lecturer at different universities: ETSAB, ETSAV, UAB, UB.
He is a regular contributor to the Institut d'Humanitats de Barcelona, where he has been director of the following courses: La ciudad y el imaginario de la destrucción (2011), Casa(s). Miradas sobre la idea de habitar (2015), La ciudad del futuro: utopías y distopías (2016), Futuros posibles. Utopías y distopías para el siglo XXI (2017) and Marte: la otra Tierra (2019).
Professional experience / Research
His areas of research include the relationship of the city to film and literature, in particular the construction of the image of the city of the future in popular culture, from the technological utopias of the late nineteenth century to the dystopias of social control of the twentieth century. He is currently researching the relationship between the New Space Economy and the utopian tradition.
He is a member of the Histopia team, CSIC (Institute of History), the driving force behind the Red Trasatlántica de Estudio de las Utopías which is currently carrying out the research project “Utopías trasatlánticas: imaginarios alternativos entre España y América, siglos XIX-XX (UtopiAtlantica)”.
He has been a member of the research team directed byJosep Maria Montaner “Archivo Crítico modelo Barcelona, 1973-2004” at ETSAB Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
He has directed numerous film and conference cycles in institutions such as the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, the Caixaforum and the Italian Institute of Culture in Barcelona and has been an advisor to the exhibitions La gran imaginación. Historias del futuro, (Espacio fundación Telefónica Madrid, 2021-22) and Marte. El espejo rojo (CCCB, 2021).
