Research Lab. Here we are!

Research Lab. Here we are! is a research project hosted by Disseny Hub Barcelona that has focused on the implementation of archival research methodologies in a feminist key with the aim of dialoguing with the results of the previous research carried out by the Department of Collections of the Museu del Disseny - DHub as a result of the temporary exhibition HERE WE ARE! Women in Design 1900 – Today.

The laboratory involved 21 students from 7 design universities in Barcelona and Sabadell and was devised and tutored by Dr. Lara García Díaz, cultural sociologist, researcher and PDI of EINA, and coordinated by Carmina Borbonet from the education department of the Museu del Disseny - DHub. Laura Díaz and Maria Ibars from BAU; Marta Gallego, Anna Maria Martín, Júlia Batlló, Esteban Gutiérrez and Avril Viñeta from EINA; Jordina Cascante, Carlota González, Laura Rahola and Maria Ruedas from ELISAVA; Irma Oliveres Binoux, Lydia Medina and Josep Vea from ESDAPC; Sandra Victoria, Nicole Ramirez and Ana Paula Guerra from ESDi; Joana Sardà and Funcan Gómez from the Massana School, and Amàlia Sancho and Aaron Zifras from the UOC.

The research carried out has allowed the contribution of more than 100 names of women designers from the national sphere to the previous research framework drawn up by the collections department of the Museu del Disseny - DHub, as well as the production of more than 30 technical files on women designers, the location of 3 pieces and the production of a public device in the display case of the museum's Documentation Centre where the methodologies, documentary processes, terminologies, visual maps, documentary files and/or problems that have arisen throughout the laboratory are presented.

On Wednesday 20 December at 5 p.m. these results will be publicly presented, a unique opportunity to learn about the research process followed, the results obtained and the various materialisations of the same through its participants. The meeting point for the presentation will be at the Knowledge Space, right in front of the exhibition HERE WE ARE! Women in design, 1900 - Today, with an introduction by Teresa Bastardes, Isabel Cendoya and Isabel Fernández del Moral, curators of the exhibition; Carmina Borbonet, from the Education department of the Museu del Disseny - DHub; and Lara García Díaz, researcher and tutor of the project.
