Mario Eskenazi, Laus Award of Honour 2025

The graphic designer Mario Eskenazi, linked to Eina since its beginnings, has been recognised with the Laus de Honor 2025 award, granted by the ADG-FAD (Association of Art Directors and Graphic Designers).

This award recognises his career as ‘the living essence of graphic design and an indisputable point of reference, who has profoundly influenced the discipline and the sector’.

An Argentinean based in Barcelona, Eskenazi has been a key figure in the development of graphic design in Catalonia. Between 1975 and 1999 he taught design at Eina, and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Eina Foundation, thus maintaining an active link with the institution.

"Mario is a key figure in contemporary graphic design, and not only from a Barcelona perspective, which is obvious, but also internationally. Mario mixes, in an always intelligent way, rigour and audacity in a work that stands out", says Miquel Molins, president of the Board of Trustees of the Eina Foundation. "He is a master in the fullest sense of the word and, as far as Eina is concerned, his contribution as a teacher and now as a trustee is fundamental. His friendship and collaboration over so many years is a great privilege," says Miquel Molins.

Over the years, he has participated in different activities and projects related to Eina, such as the design of one of the graphic proposals for the 50th anniversary of the centre, or in conferences and debates. In 1994 he was awarded the Eina Trophy for his dedication as a teacher for more than fifteen years.

An architect by training, Eskenazi is responsible for graphic identities such as those of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) and Banc Sabadell, has collaborated with Barcelona City Council, the Museu Picasso and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), and has also participated in the academic and training fields.

His work stands out for its clean, functional and rigorous look, and has left its mark in both the professional and educational spheres.

From Eina, we congratulate Mario Eskenazi for this well-deserved recognition.
