As part of the subject Contemporary Art and Design in the 3rd year of the Bachelor in Design, taught by María García Ruiz, museologist and curator Neus Moyano Miranda will give the lecture La Escuela de Ulm. ¿Por qué no sirve una nueva Bauhaus? on Tuesday 23rd at 1:15 p.m. in room B0 at Eina Bosc.
La Escuela de Ulm (HfG Ulm)
Founded in Germany after the Second World War, the Escuela de Ulm emerged as a critical response to fascist mass culture and the emotional use of design and propaganda.
This new approach meant abandoning the traditional view that linked design to decorative art. The designer was no longer the one who added beauty to an object or poster: from Ulm onwards, design came to be understood as the process between a problem and its solution.
