André Ricard. Design in Use: exploring the legacy of a leading designer with close ties to Eina

From 28 October 2026 to 14 March 2027, Disseny Hub Barcelona presents André Ricard. Design in Use, an exhibition dedicated to the career of André Ricard, a pioneer of industrial design in Spain and a figure closely connected to Eina’s history.

Produced by Disseny Hub Barcelona, La Fábrica and FAD, and curated by Marina Povedano and Arnau Pascual, the exhibition explores Ricard’s work and thinking through a selection of iconic objects presented in their contexts of use.

The exhibition highlights the functionality and enduring relevance of his designs, as well as the ethical and social principles that have shaped his approach to the profession. It presents design as a discipline at the service of people, closely linked to use, social responsibility and critical thinking.

André Ricard’s relationship with Eina also forms an important part of his professional and teaching career. In 1993, he established Eina’s Product Design Department, which he headed until 1999, contributing to the education of new generations of designers.

André Ricard. Design in Use offers an opportunity to rediscover the legacy and thinking of a key figure in design and to reflect on the continuing relevance of his work today.
