Professional experience

After graduating from EINA, Pablo worked for Mario Eskenazi and later in the Massimo Vignelli studio in New York for a year.

After five years with Eskenazi and Associates he partnered with Fernando Gutiérrez and together they founded the studio Grafica. After seven years, Fernando Gutiérrez joined the studio Pentagram (UK) and Pablo Martín continued to lead Grafica alone for 13 years. He created notable campaigns for Camper and Matalarte, for whom he was a consultant for over six years, as well as a redesign of La Vanguardia and all of its supplements.

In 2013, he partnered with Astrid Stavro to create the design agency Atlas. In just two years, Atlas has developed into an internationally-recognized design studio. Recent projects include art directing the magazine Elephant, the brand identity of the Design Museum of Barcelona and Design Hub Barcelona, books for Phaidon and Laurence King, the online newspaper El Nacional (in collaboration with Mark Porter) and the book The Walking Society, published by Lars Müller Publishers. Atlas has received numerous awards from D&AD, ADC, SPD, ISTD, Laus, ADC*E, Graphis, YCN, Design Observer & AIGA and The Annual (Creative Review). Pablo Martín is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).

Prizes

Pablo Martín received the National Design and Innovation Prize 2013.

Teaching

  • 1991-2005 Professor of Typography I and II in the Higher Design Program at EINA. 
  • 2000-2005 Professor of Final Degree Projects at EINA.
  • 2002-2005 Professor in the Master’s in Advanced Typography at EINA.
