The EINA Barra de Ferro opened on 9 November 2006 after a complete refurbishment of its facilities.
Its location in the heart of the Ciutat Vella district, near the Picasso Museum, enables us to bring EINA’s work to Barcelona city centre.
The exhibition and events room of the EINA Barra de Ferro is a commitment to raise the visibility of projects related to design and art, essentially created by students, alumni and teaching staff, be it in the format of an exhibition, talk, round table or any other kind.
EINA places great value on dissemination and is committed to raising the visibility of the conceptualisation and subsequent materialisation of projects, placing special emphasis on the teaching-learning processes, both on the Bachelor’s Degree in Design and on the Master's and Postgraduate courses and the specialisation courses.
The workshop, which is open to every member of the groups at EINA, is suitable for the production of print runs and publications; but it is, above all, ideal for experimenting through print processes such as copperplate printing, lithography and silk-screen printing.
On the one hand, the students get to attain the technical know-how of a sufficiently comprehensive range of printing and stamping techniques, which will enable them to expand their plastic vocabulary and exercise their creativity with a view to solving the graphic image design problems that they may face in their future career.
On the other hand, we see the graphic creation workshop as a space in which to carry out artistic research and creation, from conceptualisation to formalisation; both of the templates and of their stamping. This way, the student becomes aware of the problems posed by printing and learns to tackle them creatively, expanding and diversifying their registers.
It is a space, then, where we find reproduction tools that allow students to become familiar with the process peculiarities of different graphic techniques, as well as to enter into the analysis and interpretation of visual projects.

In 1977, to mark the 10th anniversary of EINA, a series of an original silk-screen print by Albert Ràfols-Casamada was printed, which was given to all the collaborators who had gone to EINA in that early period. This tradition has been kept up every year since then, and a piece of graphic work by someone with a connection to EINA has been published.
The Graphic Creation Workshop also allows EINA to publish every year the bags and folders designed by students from the school.
