Module: Fundamentals of Web Design

9 ECTS

• Service Design and User Experience. Application of user-centred design methodologies to understand the needs and design process of a digital service from both the user and organisational points of view. The course focuses on the web as a point of contact.
• Inclusive design. To learn the importance of applying the principles of inclusive design and how to apply them to the specific field of the web.
• Sustainability and web ethics. Aspects to take into account when considering sustainable and ethically responsible web design. 
• Design and prototyping of web projects. An introduction to the methodological, technical and language procedures involved in the project, by posing design problems and seeking creative solutions by the student in order to understand the main disciplines of a web project.
• Computer resources for web design and prototyping. Learn the computer tools necessary to create the graphic mock-up and the web prototype.

Module: Expression and experimentation projects

9 ECTS

• Design and communication of advanced projects. Create a web design project with an in-depth understanding of the web structure and learn to assess the difficulty of each part. Transmit with technical programming vocabulary what you want to achieve with the design, delivery of materials and resources to be able to communicate it accurately. Understand the Agile methodology and its variants, advantages and limitations.
• Narrative and Storytelling. To explore the narrative potential offered by the interactive features of current web browsers through the creation of a free-themed report in scrollytelling format.
• Motion graphics. The subject helps to understand the importance of video in web design and to acquire basic skills to plan and produce a digital video piece, through knowledge of the basic principles of animation and software to carry out video projects with Adobe After Effects.

Module: Web Production

9 ECTS

• Introduction to Programming. Introduction to programming to allow the designer to understand the complexity of the projects in order to be able to make a good approach, achieve fluid communication and make the most of the technical possibilities. Students will receive extensive knowledge of html/css and some practical cases of javascript, to provide designers with sufficient tools to create and lay out their own designs in html and css plans. 
• Site Building. The aim is for students to become familiar with content management systems (CMS) with an emphasis on their internal functioning, which will allow them to plan the design in such a way that the integration is efficient. 
• SEO. To learn how web search engines work in order to optimise the proposed structure and web design to favour good positioning in search engines.
• Infographics and data visualisation. Learn the resources and strategies for graphically displaying complex data sets.
