The EINA Master's Degree in Graphic Design covers the specificities of design for the conceptualisation, planning, resource management and project management in both the print design sphere and the digital and online sphere.
The Master’s course is comprised of two postgraduate diplomas, which can also be studied independently:
- Postgraduate diploma in design of graphic elements (30 ECTS)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Web design (30 ECTS)
Academic Guide 2020-2021 (In Spanish)
Modality:This course is offered onsite
The Master’s course is vocational in orientation and completes the general qualifications courses (Graduate, Higher Graduate and Design Graduate), and those of students who have studied a different specialisation, itinerary or mention from graphic design (design of spaces, product design, fashion or textile design). The contents of the Master’s course are aimed at professionals who use graphic design applications intensively and who feel the need to take an active part in the formalisation, management and/or production processes of projects. In this sense, the Master’s course provides professional competence in the different tasks of responsibility in graphic design processes, be it as self-employed work or as part of agencies and studios offering graphic design services, or also in the graphic design departments of companies and institutions.
Module: Graphic Design Resources
10 ECTS
-
Typography
The subject offers intensive training in the theoretical and practical aspects of typography, a good grasp of which is essential for undertaking professional graphic design projects these days. The theoretical contents are accompanied by independent exercises and projects where the students will put into practice, investigate and experiment with the aspects covered in class. -
IT Resources
Proposals will be given of automatic correction and modification formulae, concept formalisation optimisation and the execution of originals.
Comparison of the technical options of each program (editing, illustration and photographic retouching) and the symbiotic relationship between them, emphasising the compatibilities and coexistence between programs theoretically and practically.
Module: Management and Production in the Graphic Design Process
10 ECTS
-
Graphic production
The aim of the subject is to understand and discover the professional relationship that exists between the graphic design professional and the printer, as well as each of the parts that make up the graphic process from the moment the idea takes shape to when it is delivered to its end purpose.
Study of the supports, processes and printing techniques in graphic arts and learning how to prepare originals for their reproduction. -
Design project analysis and management
The principal aim is for the student to familiarise themselves with the craft of designing. To do this, they will have to learn the tools they will need to be able to undertake graphic design projects, both in the framework of independent professional work and for business or institutional organisations.
The subject works on the analysis of the processes that help in the running of a graphic design studio.
Module: Graphic Design Projects
10 ECTS
-
Graphic applications projects
The aim of the course is the exploration, through graphic design tools, and subsequent creation of a series of coordinated elements that will identify a “topic” that will be presented in class. The subject is 100% practical and challenging for the students as they have to face the graphic dissection of the values of the “topic” to work on them separately, achieving practically experimental solutions, absolutely focused on the concept and function of the solution. -
Graphic identity projects
Students will create a primarily people-oriented project, questioning various aspects such as the brand utility, the function/aesthetic dichotomy and the personal attitude towards the creation or towards the users. A basic methodology is used to summarise the results of the design process.
The aim of the subject is to observe the context and meaning of the graphic and visual identity, and to know its elements and process from the point of view of its use, its perception by the public and its stages during its design.
Module: Web Design Resources
10 ECTS
-
Digital Video and Animation
The course helps in the understanding of the importance of video in web design and the acquisition of basic skills to plan and create a digital video piece, through knowledge of the basic principles of animation and software to carry out video projects with Adobe After Effects. -
Introduction to Programming
Designers will receive extensive knowledge of HTML/CSS and some practical javascript cases, to equip them with enough tools to create and mock up their own designs in flat HTML and CSS.
Introduction to programming to allow the designer to know the complexity of projects to be able to approach it well, achieve fluid communication and get the most out of the technical possibilities.
Module: Web Design Processes
10 ECTS
-
Analysis and Management of Digital Publications
The course analyses the keys, potential and facts of the internet environment, the variety of publications it allows and the behaviour of its users. All of the necessary variables (target, tracking, usability, accessibility, marketing, positioning, Google, briefing, technology, work flow, budgets) are approached efficiently to plan and execute a digital project properly. Students work on the importance of design processes in the conceptualisation of websites and internet apps, as well as knowing and being able to apply user-centred design, its iterative process and its principal techniques and methods. -
Design for CMS Content Managers This subject aims to provide a practical view of content managers (CMS, Content Management Systems), in particular on Wordpress.
The principal aim is to be able to design and create a website using Wordpress. Basic introduction to PHP and the WP open code environment. Wordpress administration dashboard and content architecture. Theme personalisation at the template and CSS level. Recommendations and practice of the most interesting plugins.
Module: Digital Design Processes
10 ECTS
-
Web Projects
Initiation in the methodological, technical and language procedures of the project, through the design problem approach and seeking creative solutions by the student, to understand the principal disciplines of a web project. -
Rich-Media Projects
The subject accompanies the practical development of web projects with interactive experiences, with integration and interactions of audiovisual contents, better use of the technical features of mobile devices, generation of graphics in real time with javascript /canvas, use of SVG vectorial images, UX improvements, interactive advertising and mini-games.
Module: Final Master’s work
10 ECTS
- Final Master’s work
