EINA's Postgraduate Diploma in Creative Computing for Design and Arts allows you to develop as a contemporary creator and to carry out hybrid and transdisciplinary projects between design, technology, and art.
The programme teaches you to master sound, video projection, and lighting technologies, as well as the construction of open source systems based on sensors, microcontrollers and actuators. With this knowledge, you will be able to explore all the reflective, articulation, and expressive capacities offered by computational calculation and code as a generator of image and sound.

The knowledge imparted in this postgraduate course will facilitate the execution of creative computing and electronic prototyping projects in audiovisual spaces, and will help you to bring your creativity to the fields of generative graphics and sound, video projection, and lighting.
In the execution of your personal project, you will have the support of professionals from each of the areas of contemporary creation and the realisation of three laboratories: the FAB-LAB workshops, the audiovisual technology laboratory, and the 3D modelling support laboratory.

MODULE 1: Fundamentals (9 ECTS)
Fundamentals of programming: Introduction to the basic fundamentals of programming (variables, conditional structures, functions, OO…). “Training” in algorithm design refreshing primary and secondary math.
Interactive systems design: Real-time procedural design is likely to be altered in its form “inputs” from human action. Computer vision, audio analysis and a whole series of communication protocols allow us to create that respond to physical actions, beyond the keyboard and mouse.
Electronic prototyping: Through the creation of our own circuits, and incorporating sensors and actuators, we can design interactive objects that dialogue with users. Through prototyping with open-source tools such as Arduino we not only make this type of design possible, but we integrate in to a global knowledge exchange community.
MODULE 2: Textual studies (5 ECTS)
Art and procedural design: Historiographical review of art and design made with new media, we will pay special attention to the idea of procedurally. From Sol Lewitt to digital algorithmic art.
Action paradigms in contemporary art: Sense in action is essential when dealing with any project. We will review the most common modes of operation contemporary art and look for our critical position.
MODULE 3: Generative graphics and sound (5 ECTS)
Graphic generative and data visualization: How do we condition and transform data sets / data feeds into graphs that help us grasp the complexity of large volumes of information? We learn how to create generative graphs and data visualizations using Open Source Processing software.
Generative sound and data sonication: How do we condition and transform data sets / data feeds into sound sequences that help us grasp the complexity of large volumes of information? We learn to create generative sound designs and data sonications using Pure Data open source software (or MAX / MSP).
MODULE 4: Beyond the screen (5 ECTS)
Beyond the screen I: The audiovisual industry has undergone profound transformations over the last 20 years. One of the most interesting transformations is the gradual abandonment of the square frames of traditional screens, which has been possible through the cheapening of video projection technologies, and new techniques such as projection mapping.
Beyond the screen II: The computerized control of light and the ubiquity and low cost of LED technology is allowing us to blur the boundary between audiovisual design and lighting design. New techniques such as "pixel mapping" allow us to establish a direct mapping between pixels and light, allowing us to achieve a new level of integration between image and light.
MODULE 5: Final Postgraduate Project (6 ECTS)
Project development: Free work that synthesizes the concepts and knowledge acquired throughout the studies in both a practical and theoretical aspect.
Audiovisual technology laboratory: A space to get to know and experiment with new audiovisual technologies (sound systems, video projectors, capture systems, lighting, etc.). The aim is to know how to identify and know the basic characteristics (powers, connections, uses) of these technologies to be able to integrate them into our projects.
FAB-LAB: The tandem of new 3D parametric design software and numerical control manufacturing machinery (from 3D printers to milling machines or cutting machines) allow us to prototype objects that respond exactly to our design needs. We learn the basic techniques of digital manufacturing.
3D Modeling Support: 3D modelling technology is becoming a fundamental and highly specialized tool in the field of contemporary art and design linked to new technologies. Given this specialization the course offers this support during the final project.
* The programme is developed using a hybrid teaching methodology. Modules 1 and 2 as well as the development of the project in module 5 are online while modules 3, 4 and the rest of module 5 are face-to-face.
